HEADWAY HF-SHIKIZAKURA '25/ATB
Japanese craftsmanship meets the poetry of the seasons
At Headway, every guitar is a story. That of the HF-SHIKIZAKURA '25/ATB is inspired by the village of Obara, Japan, where the "Shikizakura" cherry trees blossom in autumn, combining the sweetness of spring with the warmth of blushing foliage.
This 2025 edition pays tribute to this unique spectacle, where nature itself blurs the boundaries of time.
Only 10 copies have been produced worldwide - and only one has been reserved for JAPANGUITAR-HANDMADE.COM for the whole of Europe. This is no ordinary guitar, but a rare work of art, handcrafted in the most exacting Japanese tradition.
A guitar that makes wood sing
Beneath its sumptuous Autumn Brown Burst finish, this Headway reveals a marriage of noble woods chosen for their beauty and voice.
The Sitka spruce top, a symbol of balance and power, captures every nuance of play and responds with remarkable clarity.
The back and sides in Yamazakura - Japanese mountain cherry - bring subtle warmth and a rounded midrange, while the central insert in maple (Kaede) illuminates the timbre with a hint of brilliance.
The result is a rich, deep, almost vocal sound that resonates long after the last note has been played.
Every detail exudes mastery: the ebony fingerboard and bridge ensure precision and sustain; the African mahogany neck, with its Extra Slim U profile, glides naturally under the hand, reinforced by internal carbon bars for uncompromising comfort and stability.
Nature meets lutherie
On the top, the Sakura x Autumn Leaves motif brings cherry blossoms and flaming maples into dialogue. The tortoiseshell pickguard imitates wind-blown petals, while the rosette cover, depicting a woman under a Japanese umbrella, evokes the poetic landscapes of Japanese autumn.
Each guitar is unique, hand-painted and hand-assembled, with the same attention to gesture for which Japanese lutherie is renowned: precision, attention to detail and respect for the wood.
To play an HF-SHIKIZAKURA is to touch a fragment of this culture: an instrument born of artistic vision as much as ancestral know-how.
The Headway sound
Under the soundboard, the 34 Semi-Forward Shifted X-Bracing, the result of the latest research by master luthier Yasuo Momose, offers a perfect balance between power and smoothness.
Each chord blossoms with richness; each note remains distinct, supported by a full, warm resonance.
This is a guitar made for musicians sensitive to the finesse of nuances, the depth of timbre and the poetry of vibrating wood.
