STR JTG DESIGN was designed by legendary luthier James Tyler, who has been building high-end guitars since the 1970s.
James Tyler and STR craftsman Satoru Yatsuka first met in 2014, while planning a new series for the James Tyler brand's Japanese market. James Tyler was looking for a factory that could produce guitars of the same quality as his Los Angeles workshop, the Asuka factory, run by Satoru Yatsuka, caught his eye.
Several craftsmen from Yatsuka and the Asuka factory were invited to the Los Angeles workshop to learn the process of making a James Tyler guitar, and then spent several months completing a prototype. James Tyler was incredibly impressed with this prototype and even rated it saying, "It's so perfect I can't tell the difference from the one I made in my LA shop." Since then, the Asuka factory has begun producing the James Tyler Guitar Japan series, with Satoru Yatsuka playing a central role.
The STR JTG DESIGN is a new design by James Tyler for Satoru Yatsuka's own brand, STR, in exchange for Satoru Yatsuka's contribution to the Japan Series.
James Tyler himself handled the CAD and completed the mold in several months.
STR JTG DESIGN is a wonderful fusion of Satoru Yatsuka's unmatched craftsmanship and James Styler's years of refined guitar design.
