Description

BACCHUS JT WL5-SPM RSM/M

The term "spalted maple" translates into French as "érable échauffé".

It is a type of wood that displays unique and attractive patterns due to partial decomposition during drying. The dark veins and stains in scalded wood make it a prized material for furniture, musical instruments and other handcrafted objects.

Here are just a few characteristics of this model:

  • Seasoned maple: The top material of this model is seasoned maple, which features unique patterns resulting from the partial decomposition of the wood due to bacteria and other natural factors. This heated wood is often used for decorative purposes in craftsmanship, and offers a different feel from the more common flamed and quilted woods.
  • Ultra-thin matte finish: Instead of a gloss finish, this model features a matte finish with an extremely thin layer of paint. This finish allows the vibrations of the strings to be transmitted more directly to the body, bringing out the true sound of the wood.
  • Model options: The model is available in two versions:
    • 4 passive strings: Simple configuration with 2 volumes, 1 tone and a "turbo" switching function that links the pickups in series for a powerful sound.
    • 5 active strings: Active circuit with preamp for fine equalization while playing, plus a balancer to mix the volume of each pickup.

The Japan Tune-up Series (commonly abbreviated as "JT Series") is a playability-focused range, carefully tuned and implemented by a specialized team in the city of Matsumoto, Nagano Prefecture. This team focuses on maximizing playability and all aspects that would enhance the player's experience.

The saddle and bridge are treated to improve playability. These meticulous adjustments aim to optimize the transmission of string vibrations, which has a direct impact on the instrument's playability and sound quality.

Careful tuning is also carried out, including the adjustment of string height and the final finish of the fingerboard, which have a direct impact on playability. New guitars and basses are often difficult to play right out of the box, but with the JT series, we're committed to supporting your musical life from the day of purchase.

Instead of a gloss finish, a matte finish with an extremely thin layer of paint is used. Compared to a standard finish with a thicker coating, the matte finish transmits string vibrations more directly to the body.

This model inherits the reduced body shape of the high-end WOODLINE series, which was developed for the Handmade series. The body is slightly thinner than a typical JB electric bass, offering excellent playability. A black finish is applied around the perimeter of the body to give it a tight, high-end look. This model features an original brass neck plate with a high specific density used in assembly. The bass sound is heavier than conventional models, and extends into the mid and bass ranges with a dense, full sound.

The "turbo switch" common to WOODLINE models is also present on this model. Pulling the tone knob activates the turbo switch, which connects two single-coil pickups in series to produce a sound similar to that of a double-coil pickup.(When the turbo switch is activated, volume is adjusted with the front volume knob. The rear volume knob is bypassed). The roasted maple neck, which has become a Bacchus standard, is also used in this model. The heat treatment not only makes the neck very stiff and resistant to deformation, but also produces an aged sound with good attack.
