The Headway Sakura Wood Guitars story began with the crafting of a ukulele in 2014. Headway works with Sakura wood, which has a distinct sound and quality compared to imported woods. Over the years, they’ve honed their craftsmanship, and this year, as Headway celebrates its 10th anniversary, they’ve created a special model with the hope of reaching new heights and shining worldwide.
Sakura Gradient Colors: This model introduces the “Sakura-Slant Gradation,” the first diagonal gradient in the Standard series. The body is adorned with soft cherry blossom tones, transitioning from bottom-right to top-left like falling petals.
Commemorating the 10th Anniversary: To express gratitude to the many users who have supported Sakura guitars over the years, Headway has designed a crane inlay on the headstock—a symbol of good fortune. Since cranes are migratory birds, they hope this guitar will be appreciated not only in Japan but also globally, transcending borders.
Cherry Blossom Inlay and Purple Heartwood Pickguard: One of the symbolic elements of the cherry blossom model is the cherry blossom inlay on the fretboard, skillfully crafted from acrylic and wood. Additionally, purple heartwood, with its rich purple color, has been used for the pickguard.
Yamazakura (Wild Cherry) Body: The back and sides of the guitar are made from Yamazakura wood harvested in Japan. It’s a hard wood with a pronounced midrange peak, while still producing the sweet sound characteristic of Sakura wood. The center of the body features a central line of purple heartwood, matching the material used for the pickguard.
10th Anniversary Commemorative Logo: The back of the headstock bears the anniversary logo, inspired by the silhouette of a woman under a Japanese umbrella—a symbol of the cherry blossom model by Headway, exclusive to the 10th-anniversary edition.
