MOMOSE MC2-MV/R – RENEW 2026
The Perfect Balance Between Century-Old Tradition and Modern Performance
Imagine a guitar that captures the soul of the 1950s while meeting the technical demands of today's virtuosos. The Momose MC2-MV/R, from the prestigious Modern Virtuoso series, is more than just an instrument: it is the culmination of half a century of Japanese passion for exceptional lutherie.
A Master's Legacy: The Momose Spirit
Playing a Momose is a dialogue with history. Yasuo Momose, a legendary Senior Master Builder, built his reputation on an absolute principle: the ear and the hand must prevail over the machine. Unlike mass-produced industrial guitars using computer-controlled CNC machines, the Aska Workshop in Matsumoto prioritizes human feel.
Momose Sensei has spent his life creating his own tools and understanding the "personality" of each piece of wood. For him, the quality of wood is never uniform; two pieces of ash will never sound exactly the same and must therefore be processed individually based on their mass and elasticity. This philosophy is reflected in every curve of the MC2-MV/R—an instrument designed to last and improve with time.
Noble Materials for a Unique Sonic Signature
-
2-Piece Ash Body: Selected for its crystalline resonance and defined lows. Ash provides that sought-after "snap" and dynamic response, magnified by a Top Lacquer finish that allows the wood to breathe and vibrate freely.
-
Quartersawn Maple Neck: Rare and precious, this specific grain orientation guarantees rock-solid structural stability against warping while ensuring optimal vibration transfer from the strings to the body.
-
Indian Rosewood Fingerboard & 310R Radius: A silky-smooth board fitted with Jescar® frets. The flatter 310R radius is a blessing for modern playing, allowing for lower action and effortless bends without any note choking.
-
High-Density Water Buffalo Bone Nut: Oil-preserved, this material exceeds standard cow bone specs. With a specific gravity of 1.7 or higher, it offers properties close to ivory, ensuring infinite sustain and professional tuning stability.
High-End Electronics and Hardware
The heart of this beast beats thanks to Mojotone® pickups, hand-wired in North Carolina.
-
Two Classic Strat pickups in the neck and middle positions deliver round, flute-like, and crystal-clear vintage tones.
-
A Classic Humbucker Hot at the bridge, inspired by the '59 PAF, adds a modern twist with emphasized lows and authority to cut through any mix. The new Centralab® oil-filled capacitor (a 2026 renewal feature) provides an organic response and harmonic clarity to every nuance of your playing.
