The history of Headway is inseparable from the Aska workshop in Matsumoto (Nagano). Founded in 1977 by Yasuo Momose, Headway is the original brand of the Deviser group, born from an absolute passion for high-end acoustic guitars. Each instrument is the result of an obsessive quest: to provide unparalleled sound projection and harmonic clarity.

Ancestral Craftsmanship and Surgical Precision

Headway's reputation is built on traditional construction techniques pushed to their peak.

• Premium Tonewoods: Luthiers manually select rare woods (Sitka Spruce, Rosewood, Adirondack) that undergo prolonged natural seasoning for perfect stability.

• Handmade Assembly: Unlike mass-produced guitars, the bracing is hand-scalloped to optimize the soundboard's vibration, a method directly inherited from Yasuo Momose.

• The "Aska Team Build" Series: These instruments represent the pinnacle of Japanese production, where a select team of elite craftsmen shapes each guitar with attention to every single detail.

HEADWAY operates in two segments: 

• HANDMADE series: instruments manufactured entirely in Japan
• JAPAN TUNE UP series: instruments manufactured outside Japan under the supervision of Japanese luthiers. The instrument is then finished in Japan (fretboard treatment, fret polishing, string action, electronics, setup)
