Bacchus WJB-1DX RSM/P – Pearl White
A modern Jazz bass with elegant looks and precise tone
In the world of JB-style electric basses, some instruments immediately stand out. The Bacchus WJB-1DX RSM/P is one of them: stylish, comfortable to play and full of personality.
This model belongs to the Bacchus Universe series, developed by the Japanese manufacturer Deviser, founded in Nagano in 1977. For nearly five decades, the company has built its reputation on the expertise of skilled luthiers and strict quality control standards.
Even in its most accessible ranges, Bacchus instruments reflect that philosophy.
A refined Pearl White finish
The first thing that catches the eye is the beautiful Pearl White finish.
This delicate color was recreated using a sample originally developed by the luthiers of the Aska workshop in Matsumoto, where Deviser’s high-end models are crafted.
The result is subtle and elegant: a pearlescent white that changes depending on the light.
Combined with a Black Pearl pickguard, the bass gains depth and visual contrast, giving it a refined and stage-ready look.
The matching headstock completes the design, creating a cohesive and premium aesthetic rarely seen at this price point.
Roasted maple neck: stability and resonance
The neck is made from roasted maple, a wood treated at high temperature to remove moisture and oils.
This process offers several benefits:

• reduced risk of neck movement
• improved resonance
Tonally, roasted maple delivers a tight attack and lively response, with a subtle vintage character reminiscent of well-aged instruments.
Stained Purpleheart fingerboard
The fingerboard is crafted from Stained Purpleheart, a dense hardwood known for its tonal clarity.
Naturally purple in color, it is dyed black here to provide the elegant look of ebony.
Purpleheart is:
• harder than rosewood
• extremely responsive
• rich in harmonics
This results in a bright and articulate tone, with excellent note definition.
Stainless steel frets for durability
The jumbo stainless steel frets are another highlight.
Compared to traditional nickel frets they:
• last significantly longer
• feel smoother under the fingers
• enhance sustain and clarity
A premium feature rarely found in this price range.
Designed for modern playability
The bass also features a heel-less neck joint, allowing easier access to higher frets.
This design greatly improves comfort for modern playing styles.
The body shape is inspired by Bacchus’ flagship WOODLINE bass, slightly slimmer than a traditional Jazz Bass for improved ergonomics.
