MOMOSE MT2/M – RENEW 2026
The vintage spirit, revived by a new generation
With this 2026 version of the MT2/M, Momose takes its vision of a guitar inspired by the TL style—but completely reimagined—even further. This is an instrument that exudes Japanese craftsmanship, offering a genuine evolution in both sound and ergonomics compared to previous generations (formerly the MT2-STD/M).
The moment you pick it up, something happens. It’s not just a well-finished guitar. It’s an instrument that makes you want to play.
A vibrant and expressive style of instrument-making
The choice of ash (Ash 2P) for the body is no accident. It is a wood renowned for its natural resonance, clarity and crisp attack, perfect for precise, dynamic and articulate tones.
Combined with a maple neck and fingerboard, the result is an ultra-responsive feel, with brilliant highs, a well-defined low end, and that snappy quality we look for in this type of guitar.
The Top Lacquer finish enhances the overall sound by allowing the wood to breathe, which promotes better overall vibration of the instrument.
A playing experience designed for discerning musicians
The neck features a Soft V profile, inspired by vintage designs but updated for a natural, fluid feel.
The satin finish allows for effortless gliding, even during long sessions. And above all, Momose has rethought certain key features:
- Improved access to the high notes thanks to a deeper cutaway
- A slightly recessed neck-to-body joint for greater comfort
- A flatter 310R radius: ideal for low action and technical playing
- Impeccably polished Jescar frets for a premium feel
Every detail is designed to enhance your playing, without compromise.
⚡ New “Awake” electronics: the real turning point of 2026
This is THE major development in the RENEW 2026 range.
The new Awake pickups have been developed to deliver greater character and balance:
- Alnico 4 at the neck: warmth, smoothness and musicality
- Alnico 5 at the bridge: a crisper attack, power and precision
The result? An ultra-coherent set, capable of covering a wide sonic spectrum whilst retaining a distinct identity.
The choice of a Centralab oil-filled capacitor further refines the dynamic response, delivering a more open and expressive sound.
Unfailing reliability, built to last
Momose leaves nothing to chance:
- Precise and stable GOTOH® tuners
- Bridge with In-Tune compensated saddles for optimal intonation
- Puretone® jack: a secure connection, free from noise
- Luminlay fret markers visible in the dark
These may be small details, but they make all the difference, both on stage and in the studio.
The MOMOSE legacy: a philosophy all of its own
The Momose brand is named after Yasuo Momose, a Japanese master craftsman renowned for his uncompromising standards.
For decades, he crafted instruments entirely by hand, even going so far as to create his own tools to achieve the level of precision he sought. His approach is based on a simple idea: every guitar must be unique, vibrant and inspiring.
Even today, this legacy lives on at the Aska workshop in Matsumoto, where every instrument is crafted without extensive use of CNC machines, in keeping with tradition.
